This added depth is to accommodate the Primary Mounting Strap that will actually mount the downspout to the wall. Same added depth for the 6″ as well.

We did over 200 for the project some time ago and these are to keep it moving so they can get the roof on. We make one Gutter Bracket so they can figure proper projection to mount the Roof Mounts. These brackets are designed to fit World Gutter Systems 6″ Half Round Gutter.
